While visiting friends from New England, we were lucky enough to be taken to see Crane Lakes. After seeing part of the complex I was standing in the pool area looking over the lake and what I later found out was the 8th green and the 9th tee. All I could say was “you gotta be kidding me”. We decided then to buy a home here and are so happy we did. The people are wonderful and caring and the complex is the best kept in central Florida. The golf course is magnificant and the best groomed in the area. What can be better, beautiful home, beautiful people, beautiful complex, beautiful golf course and on vacation
365 days a year in sunny Florida?
The first time my daughter Ans Luhinec and I drove into Crane Lakes and saw it close up, we fell in love with this community! My grandson was with us and the first thing he said was “Oma you have to buy here, it’s like a permanent vacation. It is beautiful.” We looked around and as you can see we decided to buy.
The people here are very nice and very friendly and it did not take very long until we made some new friends, between playing dominoes the different card games we are playing and before you know it you make new friends. Of course you have to add Bingo to the list also. Also don’t forget all the different entertainment that is going on every month. We have never been sorry we came here and we never will.
In Feb. 2004, we came here to visit our previous neighbors who lived next to us in California. We fell in love with the warm weather in February. Although we had been looking at retirement communities and downsizing, we never thought of moving clear across the country, away from family and friends and the town where we grew up. However, the minute we drove into the community, we felt at home. This isn’t just a retirement community, it’s a community of Friends! Everyone is warm and friendly where neighbors enjoy helping neighbors and people truly care about each other.
It has an exceptionally nice clubhouse and the amenities (pools, tennis courts, shuffle boards, billiards, exercise room, crafts, library, etc.) are outstanding. The grounds are beautifully manicured and maintained by a fantastic management team. There are numerous activities to enjoy and you can be as active or inactive as you want to be. The beautiful and challenging golf course is in our backyard and the weather in Florida allows us to play everyday if we want. Any major shopping, dining, hospitals and beach are so convenient and are within 10 miles.
In a nutshell, Crane Lakes is beautiful with a warm community of seniors, living their chosen lifestyles, co-existing with nature and where neighbors look out for each other. “Crane Lakes is a place you want to come home to.”
“We have made the greatest friends here from all over the country. The property is so beautifully groomed. There are so many activities to pick and choose from.” – Dee
Why do I love Crane Lakes? “I would say golf, golf and more golf. The Wonderful people. Our beautiful home.” – Larry
“Larry never wants to leave it!” – Dee
When we retired in May, 2005, from Chuck’s work as a Chaplain Educator in a geriatric long-term care facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we decided to move close to one of our 4 children. Our choices were: central Illinois, central Pennsylvania, New Jersey…and Port Orange, Florida! It didn’t take long to make the decision to head for Florida, and finding a perfect home here in Crane Lakes made it even better. Because of Chuck’s previous work as a pastor and chaplain, we had never owned a house…until now! What a way to start home ownership! Doug Peck helped us find just exactly the home we wanted, and we have loved being able to fix it up with all our furniture and personal items. Want to see it? We love having company and bragging about our home. We both enjoy baking, so we might even have some cookies for you if you stop by!
We are proud to be two of the “Original Settlers” in Crane Lakes beginning in 2000 with our first house (now we’re in our second house just around the corner). We actually had no intention of buying in Florida until we saw Port Orange and beautiful Crane Lakes. We were hooked with our first glimpse of the life-style and tour of the Clubhouse, golf course and beautiful home models. We were snowbirds for three years but soon found ourselves spending more and more time here. Now we’re full-time residents and could not be happier. Crane Lakes is a “Community” in every sense of the word. It is a group of friendly, generous and caring people looking out for each other and the place we all call home.
We have lived in Crane Lakes for 11 years and have found it to be a very great community in which to live. The people are warm and accepting of new residents and the community has so much to offer all individuals. We are also close to many of the area attractions such as the famous Atlantic Coast beaches and the Daytona 500 Speedway.
